Gnomestock, September 19th

Gnomestock is set for September 19th.  The 20th actually had a few more votes, but that’s the first day of Brewfest.  My bad.  We’ll shoot for Saturday instead of Sunday and I’ll have a poll for the starting time (I’m hoping more people will vote in this one) early next week.

One thing to note is that the 19th is Pirate Day.  Bucklers of Swash is (obviously) a pirate themed guild, so putting Gnomestock on Pirate Day is going to get me in a little trouble, but that would be better than doing an event in Dun Murogh on the first day of Brewfest.  The object is to have a good time, not to crash the server.

Anyway, spread the word, and if you’re coming bring a friend, or many friends.  The more the merrier, and the better the event.  And now onto other important Gnomestock information, like the rules, events, etc.

Rules

As far as Gnomestock itself goes, there’s only one rule.  You must roll a level 1 gnome to participate.  It can be any class you want, but no leveling before hand.  We’ll be setting up Raid groups at the beginning of the event and anyone who’s not level 1 at the start will be removed.  This is subject to change, and any additional rules that are needed will be added.

Tabard Submissions

I currently have a handful of Tabard submissions for Gnomestock.  It’s enough, and I’ve got some favorites already, but I’d like to have a few more to pick from.  If’ you’re not sure what to do for this, check here.

Event Information

So far, there are four confirmed events for Gnomestock that should generate some pretty sick screenshots.  I’d love for you to send me your favorites after the event. 🙂  I’m not going to reveal everything about them today, but this should give you a good idea about what we’re doing.

Not-so Gnaked Gnome Race

I decided that an all Gnome event couldn’t go without a race.  The course will be shorter than normal, and there’s a twist to this one that I won’t reveal until the day of the event.

Gnomes Takin’ Over the ‘Forge

There are actually two separate things we’ll be doing in Ironforge; one involves the use of Happy Fun Rocks, the other involves the use of Paper Zeppelins.  Just fyi, you can catch a paper zeppelin in your inventory without the actual graphic despawning.   Your ability to “kite” that zepplin (and potentially many more) is going to come into play.  Think about that…

Where In The World Dun Murogh Is Carmen Sandiago Samueltempus?

How hard do you think finding a stealthed gnome in Dun Murogh will be?  Especially one that isn’t in a group.  Don’t worry, every so often a hint will be thrown your way.

Where do we go from here?

There’s a long standing tradition to use a mage portal after an event to send all the baby characters somewhere.  I don’t know exactly where that will be, as again my goal isn’t to crash the server, but we’ll figure a cool place to send everyone for some last minute shenanigans and screenshots.

Anyway, it’s going to be a great event (i hope), and I can’t wait to get it started.  If you’ve got any other suggestions about how Gnomestock can be even better, please pop me a comment or an email.

Don’t know yet. 🙂 We’ll figure that at sometime next week. My guess is in the middle of the afternoon / early evening.

    Based on what I’ve read….

Technically the game client doesn’t care where you are. Our clients are one and the same. The only issue is whether or not you have a NA account. So, unless you’re going to pick up a NA account for a month, or have a friend’s to borrow…there’s not really a way to get here. (Which makes me sad, and needs fixing)

Wonder if I could download the free trial but from the US website, or something.

Sounds like fun. I’ll be off at a convention that day, or I’d totally be there. Are you starting in Ironforge? I’m not sure you can get a newbie gnome TO Ironforge without it levelling up from discovery xp.

Nope, the event starts outside of Anvilmar, so any baby Gnomes that don’t wonder off should stay level 1. The first event is a race, and it’s only important that the race starts with level 1 gnomes, after we start the race the little Gnomes can gain as much exp as they’d like.
