Assassination Hemo?

So, I got kinda tired of not being able to put out any sustained damage in arenas.  More specifically I got tired of using Mutilate as my main combo point generating ability, because it’s so expensive.  I decided to play around with my PvP spec a bit, and altered my Mut/Prep to this:  40/5/26.  It works fairly well in 2’s, but it works even better in 3’s with the comp we’re running.  Essentially, I swapped Mutilate for Hemo, and move a few other points around that only really buffed my Mutilate damage.

This build has smoothed out and increased my damage a bit, although it’s debatable how much of the increase came from the weaponry (my swords are significantly better than my daggers).  Regardless, I’m running into less people hovering at 1k health and being healed, and finding more opponents dead at my feet.  I’m not done playing with the spec yet; depending on what I do with the talents, I could keep quick recovery and pick up cheat death too, but I don’t know that it’s necessary.

This has worked really well in 3’s as my other DPS partner is a Mut/Prep Rogue, and with the synergy between our two specs, we blow people up fast.  The best improvement we’ve seen is against plate wearers.  The other rogue does most of the burst /stuns , and I apply the steady damage/debuffs (Rupture, Expose Armor), and we can kill a plate wearer effectively and efficiently.

The bottom line:  Our 3’s rating is on the rise, but in 2’s, we keep getting close to breaking 1500, and then run into either Rogue/Mage, or DK/Pally, and one of us gets instagibbed.  We seem to fight that team or a similar one, tank the rating 50 or so points and then start winning again, but gaining far fewer points than we lost.  It’s a grind; that’s for sure.  I played in excess of 200 arenas this week between the 3 brackets.
